H.B.N.N. for the 2010 Census

BE COUNTED!! CHANGE is in OUR Hands.
The U.S. Census will be coming to your door soon so please do your part by filling it out. The census is totally confidential; it will not be shared with the IRS, immigration or law enforcement officials.
WHAT:
A survey, consistsing of ten simple questions, mandated by the Constitution occuring every ten years to literally count the country's population.
WHY:
The results of the census are used to allocate Congressional seats in the US government (congressional apportionment), electoral votes, and government program funding such as local public aid, education funding, healthcare, etc.
HOW:
Keep your eye on the mail. First you will receive a notice informing you that the census is on its way. Then you will receive the actual census questions. Please be sure to open the envelope clearly marked, "US Census 2010".
When: Coming to your door between March and April 2010!
=============================================
CENSUS FACTS AND MYTHS BUSTERS:
-Boston has been traditionally undercounted in the US Census; the 2010 Censu count is vital to ensuring one's equal voice in government and access to federal and state funding for your community
-$4 trillion over a 10 year period will be distributed as much-needed aid to programs like Medicaid, Head Start, Education programs for low-income children, Special education, employment services, foster care, WIC food grants and others
-Congressional, state and local district lines are drawn using Census data determining the number of representatives communities have in the U.S. House; during the last decade, the US House of Representatives crafted laws involving taxes, the financial crisis, funding for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, reauthorization of the Voting Rights Act and the Equal Pay Act.
-Because African American communities are disproportionately impacted by a host of social and economic issues, we cannot afford to be inaccurately counted in the 2010 Census. According to one estimate, the 2000 Census missed nearly 1 million people of color--yet double counted the non-Hispanic white population; Boston alone missed out on over $50 million in Census dollars
-The Census form should only take 10 minutes to complete; all information will be kept confidential--it will not be shared with law enforcement, the IRS, welfare, FBI, or immigration officials.
